Uganda is an all-year-round visited country with temperatures hardly changing throughout the seasons.  Meanwhile, the most ideal period to visit Uganda is during its two dry season when the dirt roads are navigable and also when the grasses in the country’s savanna national parks are short, perfect for game viewing.

The dry season is not only best for game viewing but also fantastic for tracking the endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees as well. The two dry seasons happen in the months of June to August and the second dry season happens from December to February, this is when all the tourists’ activities in the national parks are at peak.

If you are planning to visit Uganda in the drier months, you are highly advised to forward in your bookings as earlier as possible because things are on a very high demand, and you are most likely to miss out your safari if you tend to delay.

The gorilla and chimpanzee permits should be booked in advance, let your tour agency know in time for fantastic preparations. Book everything in advance including; a 4X4 vehicle, accommodation and other essentials on your trip. Generally most of the national parks in Uganda are best visited in the drier seasons.

You are guaranteed memorable game drives in Uganda’s remarkable national parks during the dry season. This is because you are ensured of spotting very many animals as they will be lured to waterholes, making this a great time for boat safaris as the animals visit the banks to drink water.

The most astounding national parks for wildlife viewing in Uganda include; Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Kidepo Valley National Park, among others.

However, for the gorilla safaris Uganda has two gorilla refuges, including; Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks. Well as, Kibale Forests National Park is the major destination for chimpanzee safaris though some other national parks also offer them.

Nevertheless, trekking to see mountain gorillas and chimpanzees is a great experience regardless of the time of year. You can trek both chimpanzees and mountain gorillas at any time of the year that is convenient for you, and the experience remains the same regardless of the season you trekked in.

However, what makes dry season a great one for exploring Uganda is that the roads are in better condition and visibility is good for game viewing, definitely everything is just perfect in the dry season!
